Our Vineyards

The winery staff carefully scrutinizes the vineyards which supply the grapes for the winery, and sign long term agreements with the vine growers, enabling the professional team to be a party to the manner in which the grapes are grown and to the level of the vineyard’s yeald. The winery’s vineyards are located in a number of different areas within Israel, mainly in the Upper Galilee and the Judean Hills. This results in unique wines from different terroirs and in the ability to create fascinating blends.

Alma Vineyard – The vineyard is located below the town of Kerem Ben Zimra on the Dalton Heights. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown at this vineyard. The vineyard was planted in 1995 and is 750 meters above sea level. The Kerem Ben Zimra area is characterized by a very cold climate, large temperature differences between day and night and basalt soil. This vineyard is unique in that it is extremely isolated from other vineyards’ plots, thus the need for pest and disease control is minimal.

Kfar Yuval Vineyard – The vineyard is located in Kfar Yuval (near Metulla) on the foot of the Ramim mountain range. Two species of grapes grow in the vineyard: Cabernet Sauvignon and The Shiraz grapes. The Kfar Yuval vineyard is the northernmost vineyard in the State of Israel, which is characterized by very cold temperatures in the winter and a cool breeze in the evening hours, which blows from the hills of Lebanon during the ripening period.
The vineyard reaches a height of about 400 meters above sea level and the terrain is a combination of lime and basalt.

Karmei Yosef Vineyards – The vineyards are located in Karmei Yosef on the slopes of the Judean Hills and have heavy limestone soil. The vineyards are cared for by the Shosayov family, among the owners of the Karmei Yosef Winery. Three varieties of grapes grow in these vineyards – Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot.
The grapes are grown according to a unique system that was developed by Professor Oded Shosayov. This unique growing system prevents the natural evaporation of the grapes’ aromas during ripening.

Mata Vineyards – The vineyards are located in the Judean Hills opposite Moshav Mata, near Jerusalem. The winery harvests three classic French varieties of grapes in these vineyards – Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
This is an extremely high quality vineyard, located 700-800 meters above sea level, with terra rossa soil and the vineyard’s crop is kept to less than 8 ton per hectare.
