Kfar Tikva – A home for special people
Kfar Tikva is a residential community that constitutes a unique model in Israel and worldwide. It is a community in which people with disabilities and special needs can develop and realize their potential. The community was established in 1964 on the Zaid Hills in the Jezreel Valley, near Kiryat Tivon, in northern Israel.
Kfar Tikva is home to some 200 members who vary in age, type of disability and acclimation difficulties as well as in their levels of functioning and independence.
The community continually strives to develop new, innovative and creative professional programs with and for each community member, suited to his/her individual and changing needs. The goal is to help community members improve their quality of life, to allow them to realize and fulfill their personal abilities and to live as independently as possible.
Beyond employing Kfar Tikva community members during the week and on weekends, Tulip Winery helps with renovations and improvements to the community’s infrastructure in order to create a more pleasant and comfortable environment for its members.
The winery initiates and promotes joint activities with Kfar Tikva, such as the sale of crafts made by the community members in the winery Visitors’ Center and at a special booth at a fair held annually for the Shavuoth holiday.
During the holidays the winery offers holiday gift packages which include artworks created by the members, with revenues donated directly to Kfar Tikva and its members.
The community members who work in the winery play an active role in the grape harvest, in the bottling and packaging of the wine and also help receive guests in the winery Visitors’ Center.
